Sara Lee – Threshold

Sara Lee has made a new print exclusively for Rabley Editions online shop. ‘Threshold’ is anew woodcut, which has it’s focus on a distant horizon, between the viewer and what is held beyond it.

There are three very special monotypes, New Moon, Shuttered Moon and Before Harvest, each in 2 versions only, made using techniques borrowed from the Japanese tradition in which water based ink and painted onto the block and handprinted onto Japanese paper, small variations will occur.

Sara Lee’s images are a response to the ephemeral nature of landscape and our profound relationship with it. The expanse of the landscape has no bearing to assess distance. Each is a desert of infinity where one is pulled into the nuance of surface.

Lee predominantly works with drawing and print, including pastel and woodblock in the ukiyo-e tradition. Her practice involves working from site-specific landscapes,
