In ‘Red Bed’ swaddled, squashed figures nestle and are surrounded by ambiguous dream-like faces.
Martin has a particular preoccupation with ‘The Bed’ that is a reoccurring theme for inspiration where memory and conscious thought combine like sequins in a kaleidoscope, and we are taken on new journeys through the dreamland.

London-based artist, Molly Martin has a BA in Illustration from Falmouth College of Arts and a Masters in Fine Art from City and Guilds, London. She was artist in residence at Rabley Gallery in 2023-24 and at Lower Coxbridge House in 2019. Her work has been shown at numerous group exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2023). Solo shows include: ‘The Art of Repair’, Brixton ASC, London (2021) and ‘Go Way Back’, Do Design, Madrid (2019). Her book ‘The Art of Repair’ was published 2021 by Short Books Ltd.
Born in the English countryside, Molly Martin attended a small Steiner school for her primary education. Here she developed a deep understanding of creative handwork and an affinity for drawing and painting at a young age. Through these mediums, Molly endeavours to process complicated human relationships and interactions, and observes them through a lens of humour and playfulness. Her work is figurative and plays with narratives that speak of themes rather than specific stories. Her semi-swaddled, squashed figures encounter strange and symbolic surroundings in chaotic and ambiguous landscapes.
