“These monoprints were made in response to a visit to Switzerland. It was amazing to be immersed in a vast, wild landscape and watch the tiny precarious cable cars carrying people to the mountain tops, a fragile but constant connection to the enormity and visual permanence of nature on a grand scale.”
Working in a tradition of an English landscape painter and printmaker, Sadie Tierney explores objects and places where form is linked to emotion and metaphor. Her expressive prints and paintings spring from sketches and drawings made en plein air and are marked by their celebratory use of colour and line.
Sadie Tierney was born in London and grew up in Chichester, UK. She currently lives in the Isle of Wight with her family. She studied at the Royal College of Art, MA (RCA) Fine Art Printmaking and BA(Hons) Fine Art, at Newcastle University.
