About Artist
Lucy Farley is a painter and printmaker, practicing stone lithograph and collage work techniques. Her work is influenced by the British Surrealist movement of the mid 20th Century, including artists such as Eileen Agar and the tapestries and murals of John Piper as well as the prints of Le Corbusier.
She is most recently completed a body of work inspired by the haunting and myths of the Savernake forest in Wiltshire. Entitled ‘Savernake Series’, a mystical spark and sense of English eeriness that places such as Kingly Vale, West Sussex and Savernake Forest, Wiltshire inspire the atmosphere created. These pieces began as part of Lucy Farley’s residency at Rabley Gallery in 2020 and are finalised in 10 stone lithograph and collage prints.

News
Lucy Farley’s print, ‘She Outran the Sun’ has entered the prestigious print collection of the V&A Museum. The selected work is a stone lithograph and collage, inspired by the ancient myths and spiritual stories surrounding Wiltshire’s own Savernake Forest. This piece focuses on the legend of the ‘headless horsewoman’, who rides along the Grand Avenue. Abstracted fragments of the female face appear as well as tree rubbings in charcoal taken from the forest itself. Here, Lucy Farley balances both the physical presence of nature, and an intriguing sense of a folklore unsolved.
