About Artist

In Jo Taylor’s ceramics there is a grand gesture reminiscent of a Rococo ornament and architectural plasterwork. The light models each of her pieces, with dramatic deep shadows drawing rhythms and curves. She works from potters wheel to composing looping constructions in porcelain and stoneware.

In her sculptures and vessels the making process influences the outcome; the connection with the raw material is intrinsic to the shapes & marks made. Clay pieces are made & marked with tools as the potter’s wheel rotates until a collection of loops & curls of varying sizes is amassed.
