About the Artist:

Nik Pollard’s work stems from a passion for the natural world and is generated from sustained, direct observation. He makes drawings and paintings in the field and develops ideas in the studio.

A period of dedicated study at single or related locations is a necessary part of Nik’s process. He makes repeated visits to gain familiarity with an area. He builds a knowledge and understanding of the rhythms and characteristics particular to a place and its inhabitants during that time.

Nik explores different ways of working, developing a visual language that will enable him to interpret what he has seen, felt and experienced. Working with a range of mediums, he focuses on the essential aspects of what it is he wants to say, whether it is responding to an instance or exploring a narrative.

About Rabley Drawing Centre

Rabley Drawing Centre is located on the Ainslie family arable and dairy farm in the heart of the Marlborough Downs, Wiltshire. The farm is a higher-level conservation farm with extensive meadow, wild bird feeding areas and special habitats and woodland. This unique environment includes ancient burial mounds, Iron Age earthworks and the Roman road to the Roman settlement of Cunetio. Rabley Drawing Centre occupies a series of spacious Victorian red brick barns that now provide a beautiful gallery, drawing studio and well-equipped print room.
